2. They allow practiced mistakes to happen and don’t take time to fix them. While #1 was a little tongue-in-cheek, I am very serious about this one. Teachers seem to have forgotten the information about how many correct repetitions it takes to learn a fact (20 – 50 correct repetitions) and how many correct repetitions it takes to fix a mistake that has been practiced. Technology is not all bad however. If you integrate it an appropriate manner and in moderation, it can be very helpful in helping students develop. It is also good for speeding up things like the grading system and removes all the wasted papers. For group projects, online sharing sites can help students be able to work together at home. If students do not feel like they are overwhelmed with the amount of technology at their school, they will probably be very receptive to it.
6. Use the online environment. There are many free resources on the net. These provide interesting ways of learning a subject as well as interesting worksheets. However children will not instinctively turn to the web for learning and this will need your active involvement and encouragement.
It happens just like clockwork! And you think I’m kidding. Is there anything we can do to avoid this? Well, avoid is probably too strong of a word. What we can do is remember that this is going to happen, and rather than start with a review of last year, maybe we should start a little farther back and work forward in tiny steps. It happens every year. We just need to be ready for it.

3. Find the right tuition environment. Look for tutors or classes where the class size is small. Having 20 kids together is not conducive to individual attention. Ask for referrals and then talk to other parents. Ask to understand the teaching approach and how individual attention is provided.
