This happens every year. We get a brand new group of fresh, cheery faces, or we get high school students. (Just kidding. Don’t get mad.) For a while, we believe that all of our students have mastered everything they were taught in the previous grades.
There has also been some shift in emphasis on the way students are being taught in schools due to the increased importance of career-based studies now. Students have now realized that just memorizing lessons without knowing how they are to be applied is not very useful. Such learning acts as a barrier in passing the entrance exams, which students face immediately after their 12th board exams.
One of the most prevalent issues home inspectors find are problems and modifications to the house electrical systems. Homeowners seem to find it necessary to make changes and add wiring where it does not currently exist. It amazes me that we do not hear of more electrocutions. I am going to explain how to safely inspect your own electrical systems and share what the red flags are when the home inspector comes to call.
1. Stay connected with your child. Ask how things are going, what is being taught, where there are challenges. The support this provides to a child is significant and boosts their confidence while reducing pressure.
Technology is not all bad however. If you integrate it an appropriate manner and in moderation, it can be very helpful in helping students develop. It is also good for speeding up things like the grading system and removes all the wasted papers. For group projects, online sharing sites can help students be able to work together at home. If students do not feel like they are overwhelmed with the amount of technology at their school, they will probably be very receptive to it.
There are many free online summer school resource that give instruction for elementary grades through high school students. Search for sites that will help your child review subjects that were difficult for him/her or to prepare for upcoming classes. Also, the summer is a great time to introduce an upcoming topic or enjoy an elective.
